There’s something special happening at The Exchange Raleigh—and it starts on the ground floor of 1000 Social.

We are thrilled to congratulate Peregrine, the highly acclaimed restaurant led by partners Saif Rahman and Patrick Shanahan, on being named a 2026 James Beard Semifinalist for Best New Restaurant. This prestigious national recognition places Peregrine among the most exciting new dining destinations in the country, and we couldn’t be prouder to see it happening right here at The Exchange.

Peregrine Partners Patrick Shanahan and Saif Rahman

Peregrine Partners Patrick Shanahan and Saif Rahman have had much to celebrate in their first year at 1000 Social.

From the moment it opened, Peregrine has set a new standard for thoughtful, ingredient-driven cuisine in the Triangle. The restaurant is celebrated for its refined and creative menu, seasonal focus, and warm, intentional hospitality—an experience that feels both elevated and adventurous. The James Beard Foundation’s recognition is a testament to the vision, creativity, and hard work of Saif, Patrick, and the entire Peregrine team.

A Standout Opening for Capulet Cocktail Club

Just steps away, Capulet Cocktail Clubthe cocktail experience helmed by Shanahan and his Peregrine compadres Robby Opperman and Zach Thomas – has made an equally strong impression since opening its doors. With its beautifully designed interior, inviting atmosphere, and expertly crafted cocktails, Capulet has quickly become a magnet for Raleigh locals and visitors alike.

Patrick Shanahan, Zach Thomas, and Robby Opperman have seen tremendous response to their luxurious intimate interiors and bespoke cocktails.

Night after night, guests have been flocking to the space—whether for a pre-dinner drink, a late-night gathering, or simply to enjoy one of the most compelling cocktail programs in the city. Capulet’s early success underscores what we love most about The Exchange: it’s a place where people naturally come together to eat, drink, and connect.

Capulet’s nooks and dark corners inspire and invite.

There’s no better place to be on a cold night than Capulet’s stunning bar.

A Milestone in Health & Wellness: WELL Certification

We’re also proud to celebrate a major milestone for 1000 Social itself. At the end of 2025, the building officially earned WELL Certification, making it the first building in Raleigh to be both WELL and LEED certified—a rare and meaningful achievement.

WELL Certification focuses on how buildings impact the health and well-being of the people inside them. It evaluates factors such as air and water quality, natural light, thermal comfort, movement, nourishment, mental health, and overall occupant experience. In short, it’s about creating spaces that actively support healthier, happier lives.

For The Exchange Raleigh, wellness has always been a core value—not just a buzzword. From walkability and access to outdoor spaces to thoughtfully designed buildings and community-driven programming, our goal is to create an environment where people truly thrive. Achieving WELL Certification at 1000 Social reflects that commitment and reinforces our belief that great places are built with people at the center.

The grand staircase in the 1000 Social Lobby and floor to ceiling windows contribute to the building’s WELL certification score by encouraging movement and offering abundant natural light.

Hosting Triangle Wine & Food Experience

Adding to the excitement, we are honored to share that 1000 Social will host the Triangle Wine & Food Experience (TWFE) Wine Tasting and Auction on February 7, benefitting the Frankie Lemmon School, a cornerstone nonprofit serving children with developmental disabilities and their families.

The Frankie Lemmon Foundation raises a large portion of the school’s annual budget at the Triangle Wine and Food Experience each year.

TWFE is one of the Triangle’s most anticipated culinary and philanthropic events, bringing together top chefs, beverage professionals, and community supporters for an evening of exceptional food and drink—all in support of a meaningful cause. We are proud that 1000 Social will serve as the backdrop for this important event and help further Frankie Lemmon School’s incredible mission.

Lots to celebrate at the TWFE auction!

A Destination for What’s Next

From national culinary recognition to packed cocktail nights, wellness-forward design, and community-centered events, 1000 Social is quickly establishing itself as a dynamic hub within The Exchange Raleigh.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Peregrine, Capulet, and everyone involved in making these milestones possible—and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
