S&P Hospitality Brings Saif Rahman and Patrick Shanahan Together to Open Fine Dining Restaurant Concept at The Exchange Raleigh

RALEIGH, NC – The vibrant culinary scene in Raleigh is about to welcome a new fine dining concept from two stars of the Raleigh food and beverage scene. Dewitt Carolinas, Inc. is pleased to announce the first full-service restaurant tenant at The Exchange Raleigh, its 40-acre mixed-use development in Midtown. The forthcoming restaurant from Chef Saif Rahman and Patrick Shanahan’s S&P Hospitality will be located within the retail suite on the ground floor of 1000 Social, the flagship 12-story office tower at The Exchange.

With a shared passion for creating unforgettable dining and hospitality experiences, Chef Saif Rahman and Patrick Shanahan have teamed up to form S&P Hospitality. The fine dining concept at The Exchange will be the first restaurant project for the new partnership, which was represented by Elm Partners in the leasing negotiations.

“We brought Patrick and Elm Partners in early, and they both embraced our vision for The Exchange,” says Steven Beattie, EVP of Dewitt Carolinas. “We were looking to highlight local talent and bring something unique to Raleigh. When Chef Saif came into the conversation, we knew that the partnership he and Patrick were forming would bring an exciting concept to the market. We’re delighted to welcome S&P Hospitality to The Exchange.”

Chef Saif Rahman, who was named NCRLA Chef of the Year in 2021, is known for his work as the executive chef at Vidrio in Raleigh, NC. Hailing from South Asia, his love for cooking comes from his mother and grandmother, who helped instill the passion and creativity that informed his unique take on traditional dishes.

“Patrick and myself are vagabond travelers and storytellers, raised in the old traditions of hospitality learned from our grandmothers,” says Saif Rahman. “The first time we dreamed together, we didn’t talk about food or cocktails, we connected on hospitality and our shared vision for how we want to treat our guests, our staff, and each other. And so was born S&P.”

Patrick Shanahan has been a visual artist his entire professional career. What started as paint on canvas grew into writing and directing and eventually led Shanahan to a passion for designing, building, and opening transportive spaces, such as Watts & Ward and The Ark Royal.

“The beautiful thing about Chef Saif and myself is how different we are, yet we share the same core values—loyalty, family, tradition, and a love for hospitality,” explains Patrick Shanahan. “Though we have those commonalities, I truly believe that it is our many differences that make S&P a compelling partnership.
