Patrick Shanahan Announces Capulet Cocktail Club at The Exchange Raleigh

[Raleigh, NC, September 11, 2025] – Patrick Shanahan, the visionary artist, filmmaker, and hospitality entrepreneur behind the award-winning Watts & Ward cocktail bar and “Best New Restaurant” Peregrine, reveals his next hospitality venture: Capulet Cocktail Club. “The Capulet name honors the star-crossed Juliet of Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy, Romeo & Juliet. She’s our club’s inspiration and muse, and our aesthetic is embodied in her eternal love,” explained Shanahan. This Italian-inspired cocktail destination will mark an historic first for Raleigh’s burgeoning Midtown, bringing Shanahan’s signature cinematic design sensibility to The Exchange as Midtown’s first cocktail bar. The 2700 square foot cocktail bar will be located near Peregrine in the interior courtyard at 1000 Social Street, Suite 110 – and will open this Fall. Known for transforming spaces into immersive experiences that blur the lines between art, film, and hospitality, Shanahan draws inspiration from the Italian films he fell in love with during film school for Capulet Cocktail Club.

The Menu: Capulet Cocktail Club’s menu and setting will be transporting—with European spirit-driven cocktails served in complementary bar settings that promise to introduce a new cocktail experience to Raleigh. Get a peek at one of the featured cocktails, Golden Thread.

The Indoor Bar: Housed beneath a dramatic 32-foot dome, this intimate space will transport guests to a Roman-inspired sanctuary. The soaring architectural feature will create an atmosphere of grandeur while maintaining the warmth and intimacy that Italian hospitality is renowned for.

The Garden Bar: An outdoor oasis that captures the romance of Italian courtyards and piazzas, offering guests the opportunity to sip spritzes under the stars.

Construction is already underway at The Exchange, with Shanahan bringing his artistic vision to life with his own hands. True to his background as both an artist and filmmaker, every detail of Capulet Cocktail Club has been carefully considered to create a cohesive narrative that honors Italian culture while establishing a new standard for cocktail culture in Raleigh.
